Seguin was founded in 1838 by the Gonzales Rangers but wasn’t fully incorporated until 1853, 8 years after Texas became a US state. At first, this area was called Walnut Springs for the abundance of water nearby, but 6 months after it was founded it was changed to Seguin, in honor of the veteran and Republic of Texas senator Juan Seguin, one of Sam Houston’s most reliable Lieutenants throughout the Texas revolution. During the resistance, Seguin became a safe haven for families from San Antonio, a status that was further increased when Bexar was taken over in 1842. Seguin has the oldest continually used school in the entire state of Texas, Guadalupe High School. It was founded in 1850 and was replaced by a two-story building after the original burned to the ground. The Walnut Branch, a segment of the Guadalupe River in Seguin, has a scenic walkway where tourists usually have long walks around the creek. Chaparral Country Club is a golf course in Seguin and has quite a few different activities including range. Max Starcke Park is a 227-acre park alongside the Guadalupe River. It has a variety of different activities like a golf course, an aquatic center, trails, tennis, volleyball and more.
Sweetwater Hot Tubz installs and delivers hot tubs, swim spas, and endless pools in and around the Seguin area. Our I-35 location is a short drive from Seguin.
